The best student areas to live in Newcastle

You’ve secured a place at university, and you’re coming up to the North East to study for the next few years. Now it’s time to find the right place to live! You will soon find you’re spoilt for choice as there is so many great places to live in Newcastle for students. There are three main areas in Newcastle where students will typically stay, which are: Sandyford, Jesmond and Heaton.

Student houses in Sandyford

Sandyford is located just a few minutes’ walk away from the city center. You’re still so close to everything going on in town, while also being able to enjoy a bit of peace when you need to get some studying done! Sandyford has a selection of bars, so you will soon find your local. Or you can head to Osbourne Road in Jesmond for a larger selection of bars.

Renting in Jesmond

Jesmond is one of the most popular student areas in Newcastle, although this does reflect in the price – however, you shouldn’t let that put you off! Jesmond has a range of unique bars, shops and cafes which deserve to be explored. It is so easy to get around in Jesmond, this area has two main Metro stations– Jesmond and West Jesmond, which can get yourself into the city centre in a matter of minutes and also down to the coast in about 20 minutes.

Student accommodation in Heaton

Heaton is a great place to live for students, as it is one of the more affordable areas of Newcastle. Heaton is full of picturesque parks, coffee shops and restaurants. The rent price of student accommodation in Heaton is less than both Jesmond and Sandyford, making it great if you’re going to be living from a tight budget.
